After 10 years as a Holiday Inn, a hotel near the Tanger Outlets shopping center in North Charleston has been converted into a DoubleTree by Hilton.

The change last week comes after the 142-room lodging near the Charleston Area Convention Center recently completed a $4 million renovation, according to a written statement.

Dan Blumenstock, director of hotels at Lowcountry Hotels, owner of the newly flagged DoubleTree property, said the company thought the Hilton brand would be complementary.
